To perform a hack squat, step onto the machine and rest your back against the backrest. Place your arms under the padded shoulder pads, with your feet shoulder-width apart on the footplate. Slowly lower your hips, bending your knees to 90 degrees. Stand up again to return to the starting position. Hacker squats target the quadriceps, or quadriceps, in the front of your thigh.
