A longboard is an urban skateboard, characterized by much larger dimensions compared to other types of boards available on the market. Its length and specific shape of the deck draw attention. Unlike a short skateboard, a longboard will not work if you want to perform tricks with jumps and turns while riding. However, if you want to cover longer distances faster and more comfortably - a longboard is for you.
Longboards are great as learning boards for beginners. Due to the size of the deck, learning to ride this type of skateboard is not the most difficult. It is easier to maintain stability on the board and maneuver it. However, this does not mean that advanced longboarders will get bored. While riding, the user has many opportunities to use the deck under their feet creatively. There are various more advanced types of boards, such as carving longboard, classic cruiser longboard or Freestyle (dancer) and downhill longboard. The multitude of models confirms that a longboard is a board with many possible uses.
The most popular types of Lombards:
- Cruiser – a classic board for city riding. They provide a comfortable and smooth ride.
- Dancer – a board designed for creative users. You can use the space and style of “leading” to turn it into a real spectacle.
- Downhill – a board with which you can develop high speeds. It is wide, which ensures adequate stability during competitive descents.
- Freeride – a universal and functional model, lightweight. Probably the best longboard for tricks.
- Pumping/carving – a skateboard on which you can move without pushing, balancing your body as if surfing.
When choosing the right board for you, don't forget about the necessary accessories, such as a helmet and protectors. Skateboarding is great fun, but it's also a sport in which injuries are easy, so it's worth taking care of your safety.
