How does a cooling towel work?

A thin towel made of special microfibre uses three mechanisms simultaneously: conduction, evaporation and convection.

- Phase 1. Reception of thermal energy from the body surface. A towel soaked in cold or lukewarm water uses a conduction mechanism to receive heat directly from the skin - the water contained in the towel heats up when it touches the body.

- Phase 2. Heat energy released by convection. The towel, due to its thin fabric, easily releases water heated by the body to the surface. On the surface, the water contained in the towel cools down due to the convective movement of air. This process occurs quickly due to the high porosity of the material - the greater the porosity, the more effective the convective cooling process.

- Phase 3. Evaporation. The water contained in the towel, heated by our body temperature, naturally evaporates - the higher its temperature - the faster. This process is much more efficient than in the case of water evaporating directly from the skin surface due to the much greater porosity of the towel - increasing the surface area of ​​evaporation.
